How do I uninstall the Claude app on a Mac?

  1. Quit Claude from its menu bar or with ⌘ Q.
  2. Move Claude from Applications to the Trash. Ours, version 2.19675, was 885 MB.
  3. Move ~/Library/Application Support/Claude to the Trash (865 MB here).
  4. Remove ~/Library/Logs/Claude, ~/Library/Caches/com.anthropic.claudefordesktop and its preferences plist, together about 6 MB.

Why is the Claude app folder so big?

The Application Support folder holds the app's local data: its settings and the caches it keeps for the pages it shows. Ours, at 865 MB, was nearly the size of the app, and it is the part a reinstall reuses.

Does uninstalling the app delete my conversations?

No. Conversations are kept with your account and are there when you sign in on the web or another device.

Is Claude Code removed too?

No. Claude Code is separate, with its own install and history folder. See uninstall Claude Code.
