How do I uninstall CocoaPods on a Mac?

Check how it was installed with which -a pod:

  • Homebrew (/opt/homebrew/bin/pod): brew uninstall cocoapods. Ours, 1.16.2, was 23 MB.
  • Ruby gem: gem list --local | grep cocoapods, then gem uninstall cocoapods and each cocoapods- gem it lists.

What does CocoaPods leave behind?

  • ~/.cocoapods: the specs repository, 16 MB on our Mac.
  • ~/Library/Caches/CocoaPods: downloaded pods.
  • In each project: the Pods folder, Podfile.lock and the .xcworkspace CocoaPods made.

More: CocoaPods taking up space. If CocoaPods came with Homebrew's Ruby, see uninstall Ruby.
