Why a Mac's Wi-Fi is slow or drops after waking, how to reset the connection quickly, and the settings that make it worse.

Why is my Mac Wi-Fi slow after sleep?

On wake the Mac reconnects and may land on a weaker access point or band, or keep a stale connection. Some routers handle the reconnection poorly.

What is the quickest fix?

Turn Wi-Fi off and on from Control Center. If it is a pattern, forget the network in System Settings, Wi-Fi and join it again.

What else helps?

Try turning Private Wi-Fi Address to Fixed or Off for your home network in its Details, and keep the router's firmware up to date. Why Mac Wi-Fi is slow covers the other checks.
